OK so I'm giving this 'retirement' gig another shot; maybe this time I'll get it right.
This is the first post in the category, the intro.
Plan is this: rent the house out and live the nomad life for a few years. Leslie is on board this time, maybe that'll help it stick.
I have been remiss, the first six weeks have passed. To bring you up to speed: Leslie's last class as a preschool teacher was May 17, her last act as Director was to train her replacements (it will take 2 people to do the job she did), which she completed on June 30. My last day at Badger was May 31.
We are done.
So we spent those six weeks clearing out the house. ~75% to storage, ~25% to goodwill, a few things just left on the street in front of the house with a 'free' sign. Surprising how well that works.
Inevitable glitches on the way: sister Sandy was gonna take the piano but transport was prohibitive; found a mountain school family to take it. Furniture didn't sell on Craig's list; gave some of it away. Renting puts us in the path of the new wave of California fire insurance policies, 4x the cost of our current; haven't worked that one out yet.
OK here we go.
