2024 September #2: Berlin!

We arrived the evening of Sep 3, checked into the AirBnB Wohnung without any trouble.

The location is shown as the blue dot on the map:

It's in Friedrichshain, which turned out to have been a good choice: it languished during the DDR years, a lot of apartment buildings were essentially abandoned, and after that ended (1989) a lot of artists moved in and squatted over the course of the following several years. Rather than cleaning it up, it evolved according to their tastes and budgets. So there's a lot of artistic squalor: graffiti everywhere, historic ruins fixed up just enough to use. The population is still on the edge: lots of tattoos & piercings.
