Full day two, we ventured farther afield. More Friedrichshain, plus a touch of Prenzlauer Berg. PB is the adjacent Kietz to the north-east. As you'll see, a much more upscale neighborhood.

Walking north in Friedrichshain from the Wohnung, we came into Volkspark Friedrichshain: apparently the first city park in Berlin, created in 1848. Since then, they built a fountain with figures from Grimm's fairytales, built a bunker & stored a bunch of art during WWII, and burned and filled it with rubble to prevent the Russians from getting the art in 1946. Now there's a hill with remnants of the bunker and views out across the city:

In Prenzlauer Berg there's an old water tower on top of a hill, they've built a park around it: Park am Wasserturm. Then we had lunch outdoors at a nice place called Anna Blum:

By the way it's been in the upper 80's every day so far, 18 degrees above the annual average.
