Today we set out for the Neukölln kietz - known as a diverse area with a lot of immigrants.
On the way in we passed something that you see around Berlin that we have yet to figure out: massive water pipes suspended 10 or 15 feet off the ground. Update: found out what they are. When a new building is being built, and the site is excavated, it fills with water because the water table is high under Berlin. So they erect these pipes and pump the water out through them. They’re temporary.

In the kietz itself, there's an area called Rixdorf, that is apparently an old Hugenot settlement. https://www.hugenotten.de. A religious group that settled here in the 17th century. The guy in the doorway is a blacksmith apprentice; their shop makes beautiful knives.
Then there was this beautiful park, Körnerpark:
A bit more strolling around, back to Richardplatz (in Rixdorf; nice, worth a trip) and our first meal at a real German restaurant villa Rixdorf (meh):
