2025 April 21: Sorrento

Scooted to Sorrento. From here you can get there through Positano on the south coast, or over the mountain to Castellammare an along the north coast. We took the south coast route..

Stopped for a fro-yo at this little crossroads above Positano:

Sorrento is relatively big compared to Amalfi or Positano. It’s at the top of a 100’ cliff over the sea, with the port & some beach clubs below. To get op or down, there’s a stairway built into the cliff, a road up a gulch, and an elevator carved into the rock.

The old town above is pretty well blanketed with tourist shops. I needed a swimsuit, so I got that, a pair of bermudas & 3 shirts. 5 for the price of 4!

Missed the turn to come back the same way, ended up making a loop through Castellemare. There are 2 massive tunnels, we were in one or the other for literally 25 min. Mildly unpleasant, but an ‘experience’..
