Taxi, train, plane, ‘nother taxi, bus, ferry; 12 hours from London to Herceg Novi, Montenegro!

We are staying a month in Montenegro to run out our 90 day exile from the Shengen zone - Shengen visas are good for 90 days, and you have to be out for 90 days to get one. So it's 90 days in, 90 days out...

We are in an AirBNB in Herceg Novi, near the mouth of the Bay of Kotor. Here's what chatgpt says about the Bay of Kotor:

The Boka Kotorska (Bay of Kotor) is a stunning bay on the Adriatic Sea, located in southwestern Montenegro. It is often mistaken for a fjord due to its steep, mountainous surroundings, but it is actually a ria, a drowned river valley formed by rising sea levels. The bay is one of the most picturesque and historically rich areas in the Balkans, featuring medieval towns like Kotor, Perast, and Herceg Novi.

The Boka Kotorska consists of several interconnected smaller bays, forming a natural harbor that has been strategically important for centuries. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its blend of Venetian, Byzantine, and local Montenegrin architecture, as well as its cultural significance. The bay is a popular destination for tourists, especially cruise ships and yachting enthusiasts.

Arrived after dark, found the AirBNB, which is a short, level walk from the bus depot, and walked into town to find something to eat.

The fish was at Konica Feral, a restaurant at the harbor. From the Airbnb, it’s ~500 stone steps plus an equal vertical drop on sloped pavement down. We had the red snapper, with vegetables & salad. Quite good!
