Visited Denise Wilson-Davis, a good friend of Leslie’s from the early ‘80’s, who we haven’t seen for 17 years. She lives in Essex NY. It was action-packed..
Tue July 15:
Poked around Essex in the afternoon:
Went to a farm dinner in the eve - one of the local farms puts on a dinner to showcase their harvest:
That’s an osprey.
Wed July 16:
The Elizabethtown (county seat) museum:
Afternoon, to Lake Placid (1/2 hour away), and the High Falls Gorge:
…and back to Denise’s for a beautiful home-cooked meal:

Thu July 17:
Hungry alpaccas across the street in the AM:
Afternoon, ferry across Lake Champlain:
…to Shelburne, which contains a 19th century Vanderbilt family farm turned community park & education center, with grounds designed by Frederic Law Olmsted, for an afternoon walk:
And dinner & a jazz concert by Camila Meza, in Westport at The Depot. The combo is from Chile. Keybard & bass (one guy, 2 keyboards) and drummer, were fantastic.
Fri July 18:
Fort Ticonderoga - revolutionary war-era fort occupied at times by French, English & Smerican armies. They have a good program, you learn a lot:
Stopped for cocktails at a very cool spot, War Cannon Spirits, in Crown Point:

Evening view out across the Adirondacks:
