2025 July 2: Roosevelt, Chelsea

Strolled Roosevelt Island, views of Manhattan from the East river…but first, a random Bowery scene with mural’d water tower:

Roosevelt Island - fun outing, maybe after you’ve done all the 1st-tier activities & have a day to kill:

Take the tram. Here we are returning to Manhattan:

There are Japanese Bodegas scattered about; this one’s near the tram, we stopped for some Onigiri:

15th street in the meat packing district:

Great little spot on 5th Ave near 15th, snack on the way to the hotel for Leslie to prep for the evening…

…in which we met Adrienne at the Hotel Chelsea for drinks. This is the Hotel Chelsea you’ve heard about, where all the famous artsy folk stayed in it’s heyday:

…and they went off to the ballet. I got a bike & rode around Hell’s Kitchen. Around the summer solstice, the sun lines up with Manhattan’s streets at sunset; they call it ‘Manhattan Henge’:
