The hottest day since 2012, they say. I believe it.

Mon June 23:

Ventured out from our air-conditioned apartment for a few hours in the air-conditioned Whitney Museum of American Art. Coupla interesting shows but you’ll have to ask Leslie; I was there for the building and ac:

Tuesday June 24: peak heat, 100+. We rented a car & set out for cooler climes: The Hamptons (fail: Sag Harbor, while cute, was still in the upper 90’s) and Montauk. Bingo. Montauk feels in some ways like Santa Cruz: kinda funky (in contrast to the Hamptons), cliffs over the beach, lots of surfers. Had a lobster roll (5*) and ‘tuna bites’ (mistake) at Hooked (5*), then went swimming in the ocean. It was glorious: cool but not cold water, warm air (mid-80s) felt good afterwards. (Yes, damnit, those are my boxers. Photo credit: Leslie). Drove out to the lighthouse at the point, the tip of Long Island:

Wed June 25: fuck this, staying in the cool apt doing projects…until 7pm, when we ventured out to the Strong Rope Brewery in Red Hook:

Oh - this is important: https://www.globalbeatlesday.com/. Thanks Maureen!
