2025 Oct 28: last day in Valpo!

Had a nice breakfast at Maria Maria in the Destino Valparaiso complex - best croissants in town. Walked around Cerro Alegre some:

Got some earrings while at Destino, the sales person talked about ‘weed’, the store also sells some stylish smoking gear. She talked about immigrants with a more brash, loud lifestyle. There is clearly resentment.

Walked to a post office to mail a card, near Parque Italia. Had a Completo - hot dog with lots of shit slathered on, something of a staple. Stopped at Plaza Victoria and spoke to a street vendor who sells clothes, costumes (seems Halloween is big here, gonna just miss it), and ‘magic food’. Spiked with…not sure, cannabis? Psylocybin?…she confirmed what we’ve smelled, cannabis, while illegal, is commonly used. in Parque Italia, some youths were shaken down by masked police. Huh; it’s everywhere.

Walked 3.8 miles, tomorrow we fly to Buenos Aires. Adios, Valparaiso!
