Nai’a to BC day 3: Mon Oct 3

Ft Bragg to Reedsport, with stop in Brookings for fuel.

Slowed during the night so that we wouldn’t get to Brookings in the dark. First channel marker sighting about 5:30, entered the harbor just before 7. The channel is very narrow, but not very long..

Tied up at the fuel dock & waited ‘til they opened @8. One pump, Had to wait for a motorboat ahead of us to pump 350 gallons. We bought about 90..

Shoved off at 9:30 and joined the parade of fishing skiffs crowding the harbor entrance. They were like ice skaters on a rink; 2 dozen boats, in a counter-clockwise loop around a 200 yard by 50 yard harbor mouth..

..into another overcast, mostly windless day..

By the way, at the start of each watch, we transfer fuel into the day tank (which involves pulling back the rug, removing a floor plank, opening a valve & running a pump for 2-3 mins)..
