2024 July roadtrip #1

We are off to Tennessee to see Sandy, Meghan and her brood.

First stop: Sedona az. It's an 11 hour drive and we'd like to get there in a day so that we're well underway. That means leaving at the crack of dawn.

Last day in the house, it's gotta be completely empty to be rented.

Those constraints taken together felt like running from the law and resulted in a car reminiscent of the grapes of wrath.

Made it out of town after a couple last minute stops at 8am.

So there's a heat wave passing through the west, and we crossed the Mojave desert at 4pm, so we know what 120 degrees looks like and feels like from an air conditioned car.

We had a reservation at a hipcamp outside Sedona, the recommendation for which was to arrive before dark 'cause its dicey to get to in the dark. So we were pushing it, 80+ mph. The little Prius was a trooper.

Arrived & set up camp just after sunset. It's our 30th anniversary, so a bottle of veuve clicot under the stars (thanks Greg & Diana).
