Pittsburgh Intro (Read first!)

Why Pittsburgh, you ask? Good question. Next?

Four weeks?!? Good question.

Anyway, from my friends who know it, I learned that Squirrel Hill was a good neighborhood.

I also knew I wanted to be near CMU…

…and I wanted to spend as little as possible $$ on things like where to sleep.

Armed with those constraints, I booked a room in an AirBNB in Highland Park, I think it was a couple months before the trip.

I like exploring new places by bicycle, so I looked into rental opportunities. There’s a bike share system like in most cities these days, but it is mucho teuer for what I want to do, namely spend several hours on the road each day. So I looked at used bikes for sale on Craig’s List (yes it’s nation wide). There were several possibilities so I relaxed. Went back a couple days before the trip & found one. Set up an appointment for my first day there.

So the scene is set: I’m ensconced in a room in a house, and have a bicycle.

BTW I’ve got Strava on most of the time..
