Treated myself to La Gourmandine pastries for breakfast, in Lawrenceville. Two croissants, very good.
Crossed the Allegheny to the north shore, explored Millvale. Felt very old-time blue collar. Relaxed..
It even had a drug store/diner, packed with people having breakfast..
Then through the Mexican War Streets, also on the north side. Nice feeling, this would be a leading candidate neighborhood were I to consider living here..
Home of The Mattress Factory (an art museum)..
And Randyland (a ???)..
happened into a car show; mostly American cars from the ‘50s on, but some others. The 2nd interior is a ‘70 Citroen.
To Caralyn’s Nicky’s Thai Kitchen for lunch..

Past an outdoor theatrical performance..

Back to my office, started The Great Gatsby (‘cause Chabon said it inspired him to write The Mysteries of Pittsburgh). Didn’t get very far.
Rode back across town; along the way, in a nondescript parking lot at the intersection of two busy streets, we’re these guys playing Yiddish folk songs (couldn’t get closer)..

Street fair in Lawrenceville, with (believe it or not) wrestling, live music etc. pretty fun..
