Starting the return trip, accelerating as we go as a pack horse would as it senses the barn.

Northern route: I70. 4 hrs to Louisville, 4 to St Louis, 4 to Kansas City, 8 to Denver.

The refrain from Siri each day: “for about 457 miles, continue straight”.

Louisville:

Thai curry & g&t’s for dinner in the airbnb (the one with tandem parking next to the lawn).

Discovered a nice neighborhood next AM:

St Louis:

You can take a Ferris wheel-like ride to the top of the arch; Leslie did but my days in confined spaces at high elevations are behind me.

Had a mediocre lunch & moved on toward

Kansas City:

Back at the wine tasting at Biltmore, we talked to a woman from Kansas City. She recommended Joe’s for BBQ, Mission Hills for a nice neighborhood & Loose Park. Didn’t end up with photos of mission hills, but it was indeed nice. Here’reJoe’s & Loose Park:

Spent the night at an airbnb in a ‘burb (room just inside the front door).

Up & out toward Denver bright & early. You go past Abeline KS, home of the Dwight Eisenhower museum & library. Abeline is dissected by RR tracks, I70 on one side & the Ike museum on the other. Two hours… “welcome to Abeline”..

Waiting for the train:

The museum:

My two favorite Eisenhower quotes:

Denver:

Stayed in an airbnb in the basement of a house in the ‘burbs again. Out of the airbnb @ 6:30 (easier ‘cause we’re gaining an hour a day as we move west); here’s the loc:

Headed in to see the city. 1st stop: RINO:

Next: downtown. The Brown Palace Hotel:

…and on the road to Salt Lake City by 8AM.
