2024 September #18: Stasi in the DDR

Living in the former East Berlin, we've been diving deep into DDR history. The "stasi" was the DDR's ministry for state security, the secret police. Very gnarly shit. There're a couple of good movies if you wanna get a sense: The Lives of Others and Goodbye Lenin. Anyway we toured. a stasi prison and the former stasi HQ. The wood with honeycomb section is a door in someone's apartment that was bugged by the stasi, and the jacket has a hidden camera. Surveillance of the citizenry was a big part of it:
