2024 September #19: Berlin Treptower Park

Another day in Treptower park, in the former East Berlin alongside the Spree river. It's huge, many-faceted.
There's a Forest School and adjacent playground:
There's an old soviet-era amusement park, being renovated to be more sustainable. In it there's a place called 'EierHäuschen', where some guy apparently raised and sold eggs. Now it's a beautifully renovated event space and restaurant. We stopped for coffee & cake:
There's a wild sculpture carved out of what looks like a fallen tree root system:

And a massive monument and gravesite honoring the Red Army's contribution to overthrowing the Nazis in WWII. There's a huge statue of a Red Army soldier on one end, and a grieving mother on the other:
