2024 September #8: Berliner Mauer

One of the fascinating things that happened in Berlin in the 20th century is Die Mauer - the communists built a concrete wall through the middle of Berlin to keep their citizens from escaping to the west.
It stood from 1961 through 1989.
There are several sections that were left standing, and several monuments along the former route. One day (think it was Monday 09/09) we had a look at a section near Friedrichshain known as the "East Side Gallery" because many artists were commissioned after it'd been opened (i.e. in the 1990s or maybe 2000s) to paint murals:
