Today we took a jitney bus out to Concón, a small surfing town 3 towns up the coast to the north. It’s a 1-hour bus ride:

Lots of surfers & their gear & shops:
The surfing seemed pretty good. I dipped feet into the water, it’s comparable temp to Santa Cruz, maybe a bit colder.
Theee are also outriggers and horses:
We walked a ways back along the coast toward Renaca, Viña Del Mar and Valparaiso:
Along the way there are huge sand dunes, visible from our apt in Valparaiso. We will come back and climb them one day:
Also dense constellations of 20-story high rise apartment buildings.
We passed through Viña Del Mar, something of a resort town, generally nicer than Valparaiso. More on that later, but here’re views from the bus. The busses are wild: small jitney-like, old Mercedes busses with comical small, white-walled tires, they seem to stop anywhere someone flags them down. All cash, people fumbling in purses & pockets while juggling shopping bags as the driver, seemingly incented to make good time, dodges obstacles while making change. You have to hang on, think Mr Toad’s Wild Ride:
Walked 8.4 miles!
