Walked around the point to the south, to Bario Playa Ancha. But on the way we passed by the Palacio Astoreca Hotel, looks like a nice place to stay:

...and stopped into Centro Cultural Banco Estado, which appears to be a bank building recently renovated with a museum on the top floor, accessible from Paseo Yugoslavo (one of the promoenades on the north side of Cerros Allegre & Conceptión with views of the sea to the north):

To get to Playa Ancha, you walk past the commercial port and Navy base:

Stopped for lunch at Aires Portenos and had a great, fun lunch:

On around the point:

To Playa Los Torpederas, where we bumped into Claudio, who worked for a ship builder and spent some extended time in the States and was anxious to practice his english (our spanish is coming along but we're nowhere near being able to converse). He said, one thing good about Chile is that absolutely noone goes hungry. He said that if you have a house, you are set for life. He lives in Viña del Mar, on the opposite side of Valparaiso, but takes the bus to this beach regularly 'cause it's off the beaten track. 1/2 price senior bus tickets: 60 cents US round trip. He also talked, as many people have, about the recent influx of immigrants from other South American countries, how they are making life harder:

...and on around the point, at some point climbing on a bus back to Valparaiso proper - Cerros Artillería, Santo Domingo and Arrayán:

Walked 6.1 miles.
