The road from Denver through the Rockies to Salt Lake City, started up I70 then took a side route on C13 to C24.

Stopped mid-day on the side of the road to make lunch. Ran out of fuel, packed it up to finish later..

Encountered a strange storm somewhere in the middle: big wind, lots of dust, a little rain:

Cleared up, lots of beautiful sky:

Spent the night in a hostel in SLC. Up early; oatmeal in the kitchen, stopped for coffee:

…and westward toward Sacramento. Stopped late-AM in Elko. Town seemed almost deserted, until we opened the door at Dreez: Sunday brunch! Had a great brunch: eggs & hashbrowns for me, chilaquiles for Leslie.

Sat for an hour on I80 with ~100 other cars as they cleared an overturned semi off the two westbound lanes…passed a gas station just as the warning-you-need-gas beeper went off…reset the trip odo, we know rhe trusty steed will go 50 miles from there…after 15 miles, the sign said ‘Fernley 45 miles’…quick check of the map showed nothing ‘til then. Gulp. Slowed to 60mph to save gas (limit 80 here, semis barreling by)…made it showing 58 on the old. So now we know she’ll go 60 at 60!
